April 2009Meditrax provides unique surgical instrument identification for Central Lancashire and North Sefton Joint Venture Decontamination Project
Meditrax’s InstruMark division, has been appointed by Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trusts to provide the marking of unique identifiers onto thousands of surgical instruments owned by the hospital trusts. As part of the Department of Health’s NHS Decontamination program, these hospital trusts, who are part of the Central Lancashire and North Sefton Joint Venture Decontamination Project, have opted to Laser Mark 2D Data Matrix codes onto single surgical instruments prior to outsourcing the decontamination of their surgical instruments to a Super Decontamination Unit contracted by Synergy Healthcare PLC. Within the instrument marking project, has been the procurement of the latest technology in Surgical Instrument identification. InstruMark Compact Fibre Lasers have been installed into the main hospitals within the trust allowing trained hospital staff to laser mark instruments immediately as they become available. To aid with the project, Meditrax is providing additional skilled personal and Laser Machines to cope with the high demand. As well as providing this extra marking capacity, the Meditrax Personal are on hand to assist with technical queries from the trained hospital staff. 2D Matrixes (similar to a barcode) with unique GS1 identifiers are being directly laser annealed to each surgical instrument. The laser annealing means a permanent and extremely readable mark with zero damage to the instrument or its warranty. With the application of the GS1 code, it means in theory you could pick up any one of the trusts instruments anywhere in the world and be able to track it back to its owner. Nigel Bacon, Managing Director of Meditrax commented that’ we are extremely proud to be working with Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trusts on this project. Meditrax has been very involved with consulting and liaising with the Trusts and Synergy Healthcare on the structure, specification and application of the codes. With Meditrax’s involvement and provision of the hardware, knowledge, skills and application software we hope the Instrument Marking and the Joint Venture project is a great success for all involved’.
October 2008Meditrax launch the CFL Laser Marking System
Meditrax’s CFL Laser Marking System is leading the field in the world of Instrument Marking. It is a highly developed fibre based laser marking machine that uses a unique super high frequency laser that does not damage or penetrate the surface of the instrument. It marks the instrument in under 10 seconds by offering a permanent mark while leaving the integrity of the instrument in tact. The efficiency of this system means marked instruments can be back in circulation on the same day.
